A Chapter of Three Colors: Pan-African

BLACK: Breadman” is the second chapter of “Three Colors: Pan-African“, an anthology exploring contemporary Black identity through the themes represented by the Pan-African flag. Directed by Allison Waite, written by Gillian Allou, and executive produced by Derrick Rose, the film follows Joana Mensa, portrayed by Sibongile Mlambo, an immigrant mother fighting deportation while striving to build a stable future for her daughter, Amma Mensa, played by Lathan Ava.

The film explores themes of unity between African immigrant and African American communities, examining the misconceptions, cultural divisions, and prejudices that can exist within the broader Black community. Through its characters and relationships, the film highlights the importance of mutual support, understanding, and the idea that accepting help is not a sign of weakness, but a necessary step toward collective empowerment and community growth.
